Who is Physical Therapist (PT)?

A specialized medical professional called a physical therapist provides physical therapy. A physical therapist can function either privately (as in a private practice) or publicly (in a hospital setting). There are fundamental differences between the two but as these are concerned mainly with the types of conditions seen, time to discharge and the obvious financial issue, they can be ignored. Some physical therapists treat a wide range of conditions, while others specialize in certain fields such as pediatrics, geriatrics, orthopedics, sports medicine, neurology, and cardiopulmonary physical therapy. PT evaluates patients, develops treatment plan and goal, and administers or supervises treatment. Re-evaluates and adjuncts plan of care as appropriate. Reforms and documents final evaluation and established follow-up plan. In physical therapy treatment program, PT uses therapeutic exercises, manual therapy methods, electrophysical agents, heat and light, massage, traction, aquatic therapeutic exercise, hydrotherapy etc. PT works with healthy persons (for public health) and patients, including orthopaedic, neurologic, pediatric, disabled peoples, cardiovascular, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, obstetric, gynecologic, urogenic, atheletic etc. PT is responsible for evaluating, planning, implementing, and revising therapeutic program. PTs work in various rehabilitation settings, including state or private hospitals, university hospitals, rest home, school setting, sports club/team, indoor/outdoor sports center, spa centers, primary care, private outpatient clinic, rehabilitation center, home health care etc.
